I love Orchids! However, little did I know about Orchids and how to maintain them. I’ve killed all my previous Orchids..not intentionally, of course. I just didn’t know! I was in a garden store recently and I asked one of the gardeners how I should pick an Orchid and keep it alive. The gentleman originally from Malaysia eagerly shared with me everything he knows about Orchids and he has been tending Orchids for over 20 years!
So the scoop in 7 magical steps:
(1) Understand the natural habitat of Orchids. Grown in Asia in countries like Malaysia it loves hot, humid climate and grows in the bark of mature trees — not soil! I did not know that!
(2) Pick a healthy orchid (white orchids are the easiest to maintain). Look out for droopy yellowing leaves - not a good sign. Are the blooms healthy? Pick 4 plants that shows sign of health like fleshy, green leaves and healthy blooms…pick the best one!
(3) Buy a terra cotta Orchid pot - yes, it is a special pot with slats around the side to allow aeration.
(4) Buy an Orchid fertilizer. Used twice a week through the summer. Detailed instructions are on the product.
(5) Maintenance: Water the Orchid every 2 weeks. Now here is the golden trick: Never ever let the pot stand with water in the tray - the dampness will kill the roots! Water and allow the water to drain out before placing it back on the water tray.
(6) Ideal Environment: Bathrooms or Kitchens where there is higher humidity with running water.
(7) Pruning Orchids: Remove aged yellowing leaves. Once the blooms are gone on the stem, cut the stem just above the fourth node from the bottom.
Good news: My Orchid is still alive and a new leaf is sprouting! No blooms yet!

I was delighted to see the Stefani Water Purifier on the Chris and Steven Show right after the Green Living Show 2008 in Toronto!
Also featured were the hand-made terra cotta wine cups made by Barbara Taylor also available in our marketplace. I was absolutely thrilled to see the famous duo along with Designer, Deb Nelson rave about products from LifeSpices! The famous duo were also stars of my favourite HGTV show “The Designer Guys”.

A big Thanks to Jackie of Green Rooms in Oakville for submitting these products to show producers. Jackie and Alisa of Green Rooms are resellers of Stefani Water Purifiers.

Still recovering from the Green Living Show at the end of April where we marked the Stefani products’ first anniversary in the Canadian Marketplace. We recently received the email below from a customer who bought their very first unit at the Green Living show in 2007 where the product was officially launched.

Hello,
We were the couple this year at the Green Living Show that bought 6 filtersfrom you. Last year we bought the 6 L Stefani Traditional terracotta water purifier and love it! The only regretthat we have is that we didn’t get a bigger purifier for our house! We lovethe taste (or lack of I should say) of our water and get told by people that come into our house that it taste great as well; they are surprised that it feels that cold without being refridgerated.
Without a doubt, your product was the best thing that we purchased at that showand is well worth every penny!
We’ll see you next year at the Green Living Show for more filters!
Feel free to use this statement for your business.
I cannot think of a better way to celebrate the success of the Stefani products in Canada then share this with our readers!

March Winner
Congratulations to Don Blyth from Ottawa.
Don’s reason to win the Stefani Water Filter was:
“We have an older (1921) house with some older taps and water lines.”
We assume you would like to improve the taste of your water. We are confident you will!
April Winner
Congratulations to John and Suzi Liska from Pickering.
John told us:
“My wife cannot stand the taste of tap water and I really don’t drink that much water from the tap to notice. We buy a lot of bottled water large and small. We are huge golfers and take our own bottles of water where ever we go. I hate the thought of paying the amount of money we put out for bottled water. So my benefit would be keeping the wife happy and the cost savings.”
Keep us posted on your experience with your new water filter!
