Day 6 – Kampala Markets

Posted in General, Travel & Adventure by Indra

I enjoy an easy day at the markets by the National Theatre and a visit to the Garden City Mall. The Malls are quite modern with fast foods ranging from African, Indian, Chinese foods, including a Wimpy for burgers and fries and Pizza stop.

In the evening, I accompany the Chadaranas for a Marketing Function hosted by Uganda Telecom to launch their new logo and branding. Dress code is formal Blue and White for the event. The evening’s entertainment included traditional Ugandan dances, performance by Juliana a local pop artist who sings in Luganda and English and the Blue 3 – a trio of 3 beautiful Ugandan women who perform Luganda songs in hip-hop style. I recognize a song adapted from Usher. After dinner, people were gathered to the side of the building over looking Lake Victoria to watch the colourful fireworks. I learn later that the entertainment had been cut short by 6 additional performances so that the fireworks could be completed by 10 p.m. Fireworks are only officially allowed for Independence Day after 10 p.m.
